Objectives:

1. To safeguard the constitutional rights of students.
2. To create an inclusive, safe, and secure environment within the institution for students.
3. To provide socio-emotional and academic support, along with mentorship, for students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups (SEDGs) through appropriate counselling and monitoring programs.
4. To promote active participation of students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups in academic activities.
5. To implement government policies, including reservation guidelines and various schemes, programs, facilities, and regulations for students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
6. To develop outreach programs that enable students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups to access educational and academic opportunities offered by the institution.
7. To ensure the enforcement of preventive measures and legal provisions against discrimination and harassment, protecting the rights and dignity of students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups.
8. To address grievances and complaints of students from socio-economically disadvantaged groups through a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) while ensuring their safety, privacy, and dignity.

Functions of the Cell:

1. To coordinate with existing institutional cells and statutory bodies to implement available schemes and provisions, including scholarships.
2. To conduct orientation and outreach programs for the students.
3. To provide socio-economic, academic, and psychological support through effective counselling and mentoring programs.
4. To seek and generate funding from sources such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and alumni to offer financial assistance and scholarships, reducing the opportunity costs and fees for higher education.
5. To serve as a “Single Window” for addressing the grievances and needs of students from Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs), including amenities, facilities, welfare measures, and scholarships.
6. To promote, publicise, and facilitate access to existing welfare programs, such as remedial classes, coaching for public services,.
7. To focus on holistic personality and skill development, including professional and soft skills, to enhance students' employability.
